Those of you which follow me will know that I've been quite a car fan(nut) for a long while now. I've always loved cars so much, from the way the look and sound and how it feels to drive them. So it may surprise you that other than the one very short track experience in Las Vegas a number of years ago, is the only time I've been. Well finally as of yesterday I have now been to the Racetrack in Mission. Sure it doesn't have all the glamour and majesty of a world renowned racetrack, but the weekend warriors were in full force. And it was so much more incredible than I could have thought. My uncle has been egging me on to join him for a day down at the track for a couple years now and I've met him at the British Fleet shows a few times now. But I'm so happy that I finally joined him.
The cars running on the track weren't the Lamborghini's or Ferrari's that maybe one might expect to see, but there were some incredible machines that screamed down the main straightaway. Until yesterday I wouldn't have expected to get so excited about an old Mazda Miata. That Miata was a rocketship. I have to admit I got very caught up in all the excitement. My adrenaline seemed to uptick a couple times for sure. I feel like I had a grin from ear to ear for most of the day. I'm so grateful that I finally made it out there. I really loved it and the community that seems to form from what I know ever few weekends down there. I'm sure now it won't be so long before I go again. Maybe next time I won't just be taking pictures?
I hope you enjoy some of my photos, I was trying to capture a bit of that community and the feel of a day at the races.
Thanks again Larry.
