I've been busy again. The last few weeks I haven't been spending too much time at home. A couple weeks ago I was off again with a couple of friends from Vancouver, Matthew and Marjo. We ended up traveling with a new friend Line (Lee-na) from Denmark. This time we headed to Iceland. The destination which I thought would be a bit cold and barren was actually exceedingly lush and had an almost tropical feel. Even with the lack of high temperatures the green grass covered mountains brought forth memories of Hawaii and Bora Bora. Being a volcanic island the nature of the soil is such that what does grow there, grows well. It was such a pleasant surprise.
Our stops as we went forth and back across Iceland.
Don't get my wrong though there were places that looked desolate. At times it felt like we were on the surface of the moon. It was an incredible and immediate change at times.
We spent a week camping. First, traveling to the southeast part of the Iceland in Hofn. The weather being quite poor the majority of the first four days. We decided to chase the sun and head back across to the western peninsula. There standing on what felt like the edge of the world we found the fabled midnight sun.
I think I can speak for our party, we definitely need more time there for the next trip. It was still fantastic, The weather turned out alright. Rain and cloud cover mostly, but we had those beautiful sun-kissed days at the end. We were also fortunate enough that when the weather wasn't in our favour, we had to take down a wet tent only once. Things just always seemed to work out for us.
It was an incredible week. I'm excited how some of my photos turned out. The changing weather was perfect for different moods and styles. It was a great challenge to try and capture how I felt about what I was seeing.
I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment to thank Fjallraven Canada for the fantastic gear which was perfect for the Icelandic summer. I pretty much only took it off to sleep.
Thanks very much for visiting my blog. We were jumping for joy. I hope you enjoy the rest of the photos.
